The flu is widespread across the country and the media is fueling everyones fears about it. Many people are worried about kids going back to school. So here is what we can tell you. Yes, the flu is here, but in our office we have seen a decrease in cases this week compared to last week. Schools have been out for 2 weeks and many were cleaned extensively over the break due to the increase of flu cases just before Christmas. Flu and other respiratory illnesses usually peak in our area in mid to late January and early February. Keeping kids out of school another week will not really make a difference. People still go to the grocery store, out to eat, to church, to friends and familys homes and the germs still spread. What can you do to keep your child healthy? Stress the importance of hand washing to your children. Tell them not to hug, kiss, share food, etc with friends and family. If your child is ill, keep them home until they have no fever for 24 hours without using Tylenol or ibuprofen. If you have any concerns or questions about your child, please call the office. We will see your child the same day you call if they are sick and we have some room for walk-ins in the morning as well.
