The following assertion was one of many questionable statements made on live radio yesterday by Saskatoon-based health policy analyst, Steven Lewis – “a lot of things listed about the LPN expansion, they are procedures…. processes can be taught, and processes can be taught to just about anybody, so, again, I think there is a diminished reliance on the formal educational credential and more on how is the workplace organized” A subsequent CBC story - cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatoon/turf-war-going-on-between-lpns-and-rns-steven-lewis-says-1.2770668 - was then published online, without the many important, evidence-based opposing views that were shared on the show from multiple callers. In the interest of healthy debate we encourage everyone to listen to the full interview. It is long, but incredibly important for all registered nurses to listen to. If you are short of time, listen to minutes 9:50 and 17:35 for credible, evidence-based discussion on how research supports how RN foundational education and knowledge improves patient outcomes. #PatientSafetySK #SKpoli #Saskatchewan #Sask
