The following has been announced by the Borough of Sayre: SAYRE — The National Weather Service has issued a WINTER STORM WARNING for our area beginning at 7:00am on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 and continuing through 7:00am on Thursday, December 11, 2014. During a Snow Emergency vehicles are prohibited from parking on any permanent snow emergency street and a fine of $25 for each twenty-four-hour period the vehicle is parked on a snow emergency route. Sayre Borough Snow Emergency Routes include; Bradford Street, Cayuta Street, Desmond Street, North Elmer Avenue, South Elmer Avenue, Harris Street, North Lehigh Avenue,South Lehigh Avenue, Lincoln Street, West Lockhart Street, Maple Street, Mohawk Street, South Street, Stevenson Street, North Thomas Avenue, South Thomas Avenue, Warren Street,West Packer Avenue, North Wilbur Avenue, and South Wilbur Avenue. The pending storm may also impact refuse collection depending on what time the storm hits on Tuesday. Crews may be delayed in Zone #1 - Tuesday Collection Route but residents should still have their trash receptacles out for collection by 7:00am. There is also a possibility that refuse collection for residents in Zone #2 – Wednesday Collection Route may postponed until FRIDAY, DECEMBER 12, 2014 if weather forecasts are accurate. A decision on postponing Wednesday’s refuse collection will be made as early as Tuesday afternoon and an announcement will be posted on the Borough’s website and Facebook page. The Borough of Sayre appreciates everyone’s cooperation during this weather event.All residents are urged to monitor weather announcements and reports and encouraged to use caution and common sense during the next few days, and travel is strongly discouraged.
