The following is a conversation that Jen Bersdale, CRCs former Director of Advocacy and Communication and current Executive Director of Missouri Healthcare for All, had with a banker this morning. It kind of illustrates the no-brainer aspect of Medicaid expansion: This morning, I had a chance to explain Missouris coverage gap and our opportunity to expand Medicaid to a banker. He asked incredulously, So youre telling me we are debating whether or not to take FREE money from the Federal government? Yup, not only debating, but for two years our legislators have decided against taking the money and helping uninsured people get care. Its always a bit more difficult to answer the inevitable follow-up question: Why?
