The following is the testimony of Prince Ermias S. Haile Selassie, Chairman of Ethiopan Crown Council regarding the title of Lion of Judah used by Ethiopian monarchs of successive solomonic dynasties. The event was organised by United States Library Congress which has a great deal of materials and professionals especialising in Judaic and Middle Eastern studies. I am certain hearing from the actual owners of the great tradition that lasted more than thousands of years is very refreshing. I personally believe the Ethiopian Monarchy was never a problem in its 3000 years of existence rather it has played a great role in its creation and preservation. The most unfortunate circumstances of the 1970ties have to be remembered as such by all future generations despite the prevailing socioeconomic conditions. The monarchy had continously evolved itself until it was violently removed by its own military created to protect the country. Since the monarchy didnt commit any crime, based on the existing constitution, its rights must be protected and also allowed to play a role in the countrys socioeconomic and political life.
