The following letter was sent to Susan Boyles manager on October 18. But Susan didnt listen, so were picketing her concert Sunday night, 7:00 p.m. at Peachtree and 16th St. Come join the players. Wear your t-shirt, and bring a sign! Ill be carrying the one that says: I Dreamed a Dream Too, Susan! Dear Mr. Stephens: The players of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra are currently locked out from Symphony Hall by their parent organization over a labor dispute. ASO Management and Woodruff Arts Center, rather than mediate with orchestra players fairly, have locked them out of Symphony Hall, cancelled the orchestras season, and booked touring acts such as Ms. Boyle into Symphony Hall to fill the dates. Woodruff Arts Center is on AFMs International Unfair List. afm.org/about/international-unfair-list. Players have no income and under Georgia law, no benefits. We ask that Ms. Boyle be made aware of this serious situation. If she decides to perform, it should be with the knowledge that the organization which hired them on short notice, Woodruff Arts Center, has done so while refusing to negotiate fairly with musicians, doing a grave disservice to one of the countrys top orchestras, and to the city of Atlanta.
