The following may make no sense. I started out to make a simple statement on Facebook and ended up typing in Word. This is just scattered thoughts running through a crazy mind this morning. Christians in America gather in churches on Sunday and go through the motions of worship hidden behind the veil sincere dedication to Jesus. The reality, our worship of Christ is really found in what we do the other 167 hours during the week. Christianity was never meant to be silent. The New Testament does not call us to hide behind the four walls of the church but to be out in the community loudly proclaiming the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Christianity is not about God bringing prosperity into our lives, Christ working in our lives making us comfortable. No, Christianity is about accepting Christ in our lives; enjoying knowing Christ lives within us, knowing one day we will be in His presence in Heaven. But, there is more. Those who proclaim ”pie in the sky prosperity Christianity do not understand the true teaching of the Christian faith. John Kennedy’s famous quote, “Ask not what your country can do for you ask what can you do for your country” rings loudly in the Christian faith. We need to be in church worshipping God with each other. This is a necessity. But, if our corporate worship does not lead to giving of ourselves proclaiming Jesus in our everyday lives, what does that one hour of worship mean? If all I have to give to God is one little hour a week then I have nothing to give to Him at all. The Christian faith says God wants all of me. Remember, it is not about us. It is all about giving everything we are to Him to be used by Him in whatever way He chooses. In Christianity it is, “Ask not what God can do for you, ask what can He do through you.” Remember, John 3:16 where it says He has already done everything necessary for you in life. Christ death on the cross has already given you everything necessary for life. When we have Christ in us and we are truly being His disciples everyday, we then find the blessings and fulfillment in life we so dearly want. We discover when our focus is on Him; the problems of the world do not seem so great because we are allowing Him to work through us. When we are full of the power of Jesus, we cannot help but loudly proclaim to the world Jesus is Lord.
