The following poems are the last two written by either a seventh or eighth grade student at Deerstream. All six of the poems accepted by Creative Communications will be published in the Spring 2014 edition of A Celebration of Poets. Congratulations once again to both the teacher, Mrs. Melissa Williamson, and the students! Idea by a 8th grade student Your head is against the wall. A tear rolls down your cheek. Every hope you had. It seems to have fallen out of your grasps. You dont want to give up, but youve waited too long. You cant stop thinking about it, it was so great. But it is too late. So, you lie on your bed, sorrow fills your heart. For your idea, which was so good, has been forgotten. Now you fall back into despair. Now you realize your trouble has not ended. Dancing in the Rain by a 7th grade student Its raining outside Perfect to go and play! I grab my jacket My sister and brother And run outside in the rain We run outside and into the puddles Then we throw our heads back And we laugh and we laugh until we can laugh no more Then we dance and dance And splash into the puddles Until we must go inside For it has stopped raining All the puddles are drying up! We trudge inside All wet and dripping Creating little wet foot prints all over the floor Then we collapse in a ball of giggles And wait for the rain to come again
