The following question was received through the Joint Task Force Carson Humanitarian Mission Ebola Hotline Q.) My husband is one of those deploying to Africa in a couple weeks. My question is if they are suppose to be making time with family then why is he working until 10 p.m. every night getting things prepared for leaving? Isnt that what rear detachment is for? I have barely seen my husband in the last week and from what I hear this will drag into next week as well. A.) While the company is currently working extended hours to prepare all of its equipment for deployment, it is only temporary. Once all of the equipment and containers have been shipped out, work hours will return to a more normal schedule and the company leadership will work to get the Soldiers more time at home. The rear detachment is currently working to support the deployment, but there are not enough rear detachment Soldiers to do all of the work that is required to deploy a company of this size and with this much equipment. Please be patient and remember that these long hours are temporary and will only continue as long as absolutely necessary.
