The forecast for Durham on Sunday: High of 67, cloudless skies. Perfect weather for breaking in new hiking trail. At 1 p.m., the Friends of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail will gather at West Point on the Eno city park to officially open a 4.9-mile stretch of the MST, from West Point downstream to Penny’s Bend. That completes a 15-mile stretch of the MST from Penny’s Bend west into Orange County, and creates a 105-mile continuous stretch of the MST in the Triangle from the Pleasant Green Access of Eno River State Park to Clayton in Johnston County.
