The forfeit of integrity and accountability in the public sector of Cameroon has dwindled away the main corridor of pride to the average Cameroonian-the prestige of the Indomitable Lions. FIFA’s recent communique articulating the ban of the Cameroon football federation, FECAFOOT, from subsequently competing or being represented in FIFA’s activities is once more a great blow to the respite pride of the Indomitable Lions. Most Cameroonians, who were fortunate to live in the glorious days of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, correlate the present dwindling status of football in Cameroon, to the irrelevant place Cameroonians now allocate to honesty and integrity when electing public officials. As rising African football giants like Ivory Coast, Nigeria, and Ethiopia stride to paint the Indomitable Lions with an irrelevant image, so are Cameroonians placing virtue as an irrelevant variable when choosing their leaders. This, however, has cost us more than we can pay.
