The frosty wind kisses my cheeks, and the crisp, fresh, clean air - TopicsExpress

The frosty wind kisses my cheeks, and the crisp, fresh, clean air fills my lungs. As I breathe..I think about my life and where I am today. I think about the weather, the land and animals which share this land with us. The mighty polar bear and its need to survive, the tuluġaq which greets me, dogs barking and children playing in the snow which blankets the land. I smile and a joy-filled happiness soothes my weathered soul, all heartache, sadness, grief and doubt, have all blown away. Just as the strong winds which howls in the cold arctic night. There is no place just like this, I am in the land where I belong. Its where my Aakas, Aapas Ataatas and Aanas have lived have endured and made it possible for me to be here, or for us to be here. I bring along with me the values and traditions which burn bright and deep within my being, I am Iñupiaq, I am human and I live in one of the hardest places to live. There is evil out there and it tries to burrow and attach itself to anyone who allows it, dont allow it to grow, blow it out! Theres such goodness and happiness out there and we must all keep that light burning, even though just a little flicker, but tend it, and make it grow for others to see, pass it and warm the cold souls which have lost their way.
