The funny thing about a first world country is that the majority of people my age still feel lost. Still need to find who they are and still need to gain motivation to become independent. This, unfortunately, is a reaction to being too well off in my opinion. Not having challenging situations in life leads to individuals not being able to overcome obstacles and gain a sense of themselves, because when something challenges your life or freedom or beliefs, you must now who you are. This is why so many turn to materialistic factors which leads to a superficial identity. One you can buy in a store to try and create yourself. An identity which consists of owning the latest phone or the latest pair of Nikes just so a person can feel individual. Which is ironic because there are thousands of others buying the exact same shoes or the same phone. And that is the first world problem. Having no individual identity. The funny thing is that this will never be a third world problem because they do not have the luxury of being too well off. And we are supposed to be more advanced. Is this the consequence for a countries wealth? To lose part of our humanity. To lose the strength of the human spirit.
