The further adventures of SuperKlutz (me) continue: I have fractured 4 ribs. My son took the dog out and found a large (like 500 lb. bear) trying to get into our shed. Motley (the dog) was gung ho, like let me at him!. Paul called me out and said hang onto the dog while I try to scare the bear away. I grabbed Motleys leash, and he tried to take off - I held on but was pulled so hard I landed flat out on the patio! At first I thought it was just scaped elbows and knees, but the pain in my right side got worse until I was moaning, and we figured it was a muscle pull. Iced and heated it and tried not to overdo, which is hard; then one night I turned and felt or heard a snap (Im not sure which), and the pain was unbearable. That morning I drove myself to one of those urgent care centers (I live in the mountains of Catskill so nothing is really close) about 28 miles away; I fractured ribs 5, 6, 7 and 8). Very painful, kills me to cough, but have to make sure I take deep breaths several times a day to avoid pneumonia. This sucks! I have so much I want to do that I couldnt do during that God-awful winter, and they say about 6-7 weeks recovery time. My son cant do a whole lot - hes due for a back fusion operation in a couple of weeks. Thanks to my daughter, Vanessa Reagan, and my son-in-law Dan, for errands they do for me, and also my grandson, Merrick, who stayed over a few nights to fetch and carry for his Nan!
