The garden When Jesus and the disciples journeyed to the Garden, he knew his assignment, his purpose was upon him. He entered into the Garden, alone. Several disciples left on the outer realm of the Garden, three...Peter, James, and John, stopping to pray at an inner place in the Garden. Judas already left to report and betray where Jesus could be found. Jesus prayed in such agony as he was pushed and pressed and ground that his sweat fell like blood. He felt the burden of what he was called to do, carry the full weight of the worlds sin...both past, present, and future....on his shoulders. He cried out alone that night in the garden. He went back to the three disciples and they were sleeping. He awakened them and asked just pray for an hour. But the SPIRIT was willing and the flesh was weak...soon the disciples asked to watch and pray once again fell asleep. Jesus alone in the garden, in the very heat of his burden, cried out father if it be YOUR will let this cup pass from me..... Nevertheless not my will but yours. As he prayed and sweated as great drops of blood, alone, an angel appeared and strengthened him. We all know that rest of the story. They came for him, they beat him, they plucked his beard from his face, they mocked him, laughed at him, whipped him beyond recognition, buried thorns in His scalp and then forced him to carry his cross intended for his death through the streets to its intended place, Golgatha. Even as in the garden, Jesus still had a choice. As he stumbled and fell, as his flesh ripped and tore......at any point in time he could have said father I cant, save me! And God would have sent 10,000 angels to rescue him. But he didnt. With each moment, each step, each shredding of flesh he went forward, in silence and resolve to honor Gods perfect will in His life. Had he stopped at any point and chose anything other than the FATHERs perfect will.... We wouldnt have the cross, we wouldnt have forgiveness, we wouldnt have the pure and perfect sacrificial lamb that gives us our salvation!! Those hours of anguish beyond words were the FATHERs perfect will because it set all mankind free. Jesus fulfilled Gods perfect will and completely surrendered his will. He made the choice to willingly lay down his life for you and for me. Each of us come to a point in our own lives where we enter our own garden. We feel alone, the anguish and pain, the burdens the assignment seem so great that we too cry out FATHER I cant do this, if it be YOUR will please let this cup pass from me!!!!! Will our next words be.... Nevertheless not my will but yours..... Or will we fold and refuse his perfect will in our lives? You dont know how many lives will be touched for unselfishly laying down your will, your self to fulfill Gods perfect will in your life. Will you surrender your entire self to him today and see his perfect plan fulfilled through you, even in your greatest anguish or will you decide to quit, give up, and walk into your own path? We all have a choice to make.... Self....or God. What choice will you make? I have been there in the greatest battle of my life and yes at times I felt alone.... And God was silent.... I uttered the words I cant do this.... This cant be YOUR will..... This goes against what I would ever choose for me..... Please Lord help me out of this... Make it stop......... And then that still small voice I would hear and I would bow my head and whisper.... Nevertheless FATHER not my will but yours. Today I stand and fully embrace His perfect will in my life. I will carry my cross, I will stumble and fall but I will get back up, pick up my cross, and keep walking forward because I know his will and his plans are perfect. Here I am Lord.... I am YOURS and I freely lay down Marie and choose YOU! I will honor YOUR perfect will in my life. I will walk out of my garden today strengthened with great resolve to honor and serve YOU in all things. I, FATHER, surrender to you!
