The gentle rain from Heaven Moistens the Earth below. Giving life and renewal to the soil And all denizens above and beneath. Seeds, warmed by the sun, And moistened by the rain, Sprout, and spread their leaves Toward the sun above. The rain, having made seeds to grow, Into plant life that covers the Earth, Is returned as moisture back into the air Where it rises to the clouds above. Having absorbed moisture from rain, Plants surrender it back, along with oxygen, To give to all that crawls, swims, walks or flies The water and breath of life that sustains them. The plants and trees surrender their bodies To nourish, enrich and replenish the soil, Supporting all creatures that inhabit the Earth, In a never-ending cycle of renewal and rebirth. Lest the circle of life be broken, we must insure The Earths forests and plains are allowed to flourish And vegetation to cover and renew the barren places Lest we, too, perish in wind-swept wastelands. Let us observe and emulate these simple, natural ways To grow our food, our health and our families health, To rebuild our world as it was intended to be maintained Following the ways of nature that were given to us, Ways that will renew our planet as well as our own lives.
