The glorious painting by Julian Story; Edward the Black Prince Finds the Body of the King of Bohemia After the Battle of Crecy... Or something along those lines. Depicted here, after the Battle of Crecy, Edward notes the three feathers on King Johns shield. King John was blind, and asked his most trusted knights to get him within striking distance of Prince Edward. The knights and the king bound their reins together, charged headlong into the fray, and the king and all his companions were killed. Such heroism, however, touched and inspired the Black Prince. He assumed the three feathers as his personal peace arms. This, of course has followed through, and the three feathers are the symbol of the Prince of Wales. This painting is gigantic!
