The good Lord likes to frequently make certain that I dont go soft and take certain holidays too lightly...This is why Im/were genuinely thankful this Thanksgiving Day..Some of you may recall I stated on my status Tuesday night that I was going on a extraction mission to save a damsel in distress..Well that went as planned until we got 7 miles from home early around 08:00cst Wednesday morning and my Dodge 1/2 ton 4x4 decides to lose a rf ball joint and do a 60mph 90degree detour into a rugged tree/obstacle filled steep cow pasture...We are so thankful to be alive and not even a scratch on either Heidi or me. Im also grateful I didnt have my baby JaeDann with me as I often do..We hit hard and fast. I did have about a half a second to see my life flash before my eyes and I had that horror of the fact that we are dead and not a damn thing I can do. We were in the arms of the Lord and so lucky it wasnt inches either direction right or left of where we blasted thru a barbed fence embankment narrowly missing rock walls,trees and a power pole. All of which would have been fatal at that velocity...After all that... I was thrilled and damn grateful to have a bowl of corn flakes for my thxgiving dinner.As rough as things appear to be Ive never gone hungry. Dang close a few times...Actually Heidi made some deer meat dish of the meat in my freezer but I was too in shock to declare that our thanksgiving dinner. And it too was awesome!! I have a lot to digest and this isnt even the biggest revealing element of a day in Dans existence...The fact this ultra awesome always cheerful, upbeat and positive young lady has stage 4 breast cancer and her Drs told her in August she can only expect 6 more months of life. I am so honored to quite possibly be the last soul she spends her last days with. Gives me a whole new perspective on all things great or small. I have to do a 180 degree turnabout with my grumpyness and be the best I can be for her..Thats a task i dont think i can live with failing. Dan out
