The good news is…we raised $10,000 on Kickstarter. The bad news is that we don’t get any of it because we didn’t reach our stated goal of $20,000 on Kickstarter. Severna Park still needs an arts center! As you well know, we were not just sitting around waiting for people to pledge online. We raised close to $4,000 through 5 painting parties, the Ledos Pizza fundraiser, and the Family Artfest at the Holy Grounds on Saturday. While this is not enough money to secure a permanent location, it is enough for us to get this fire burning. In rented spaces, we will hold workshops, events, and parties until we raise enough money to fully fund the Artistic Flame. We will continue raising funds through parties, by working with restaurants and with other organizations, and by networking with community members to locate grants and other sources of funding. While we await official nonprofit status, We’ve partnered with the Annapolis Community Foundation so that we have another venue for donations. As our fiscal sponsor, the Foundation is also able to accept donations for the center that are tax deductible.
