The good news yesterday was that as a result of the Federal Governments Cabinet reshuffle, the number of female Ministers doubled. There are now two, following the elevation of Sussan Ley as Minister for Health and Sport. Kelly ODwyer was also appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer, and Karen Andrews was made Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Industry and Science. In slightly odd news today, the Prime Minister, who is also the Minister for Women, was asked this morning what he would name his top achievement as Minister for Women in 2014 and he said: As many of us know, women are particularly focused on the household budget and the repeal of the carbon tax means a $550 a year benefit for the average family. Does this ring true for you? Or, is there another achievement you would nominate? And, is there an area of reform you would like the Minister for Women to prioritise in 2015? smh.au/federal-politics/political-news/tony-abbott-names-carbon-tax-repeal-as-his-top-achievement-as-minister-for-women-20141221-12bw42.html
