The government helped to create the problem of mass shootings with "gun-free zones". By blaming the problem on the prevalence of guns, government is absolved and the public can look to government for the solution. Of course, their solutions will only create more problems that the government can then blame on freedom. They will then rally the support of the public to take away constitutional liberties based on yet another false premise. Lather, rinse, repeat.
