The greatest accomplishment of Reformasi is that the casting net for political talent has widened from just the military and the Jakarta elite to include entrepreneurs (Jusuf Kalla, Chairul Tanjung, Gita Wirjawan), local government officials (Jokowi himself, Soekarwo, Tri Rismaharini) and even activist types as embodied by the late Abdurrahman Wahid. May these nine months give birth to candidates as good as or even better than Jokowi, because a variety of competent and capable candidates can only serve to benefit Indonesia.
