The greatest generation....yes probably so...I read a post today that made me think of this...not going to bore you with the context of prior post...but it made me think of those folk that I had the fortune to be raised by....My dad for one...long before I was born he broke his back and was paralyzed from the waist down. He alone worked through that injury and not only was able to start his physically demanding carrier in the construction industry...he enlisted in the navy for his duty in the Korean war.....even though his previous injury would have easily kept him from it....I saw this man sleep all my life with a sheet of plywood under his bed to support that damaged back so he was able to stand in the morning in order to take care of his family....Carl Daniels....Boxed Jack Dempsey!...metal lathe accident left him with a crippled hand that required him to wrap even his drafting pencils with cork so that he could write ...did he quit?...no...still was able to founder one of the most successful construction companies in the Monterey County.... Then there is William Bud Johnson...uncle Bud....another of the men that raised me....Vet of WWII...Paratrooper. My dads Superintendent....and best friend....most of my life he had site in but one eye....still was one of the best builders I had the good fortune of knowing. If that wasnt enough....He had a shop accident that cut off three of his fingers down to the first knuckle!...Moren half his hand!...his right hand!...yes he was right handed...I was the one that drove him to the hospital!....did that stop him?...no...Continued swinging a hammer til he retired....good ten years latter...Greatest generation?...I dont know...toughest? .....oh hell ya!
