The hardest thing as a coach is, to sit back and bite your tongue - TopicsExpress

The hardest thing as a coach is, to sit back and bite your tongue sometimes. As a big time promotor of periodization, gradual progression, stress and recover, quality over quantity and, form/technique, I often find myself torn when watching athletes go beyond these boundaries and limits. Whether its an athlete who is running too many miles, one who is going too hard and not recovering or, one who is disregarding quality for quantity, I find it very difficult to not say something. With that said, Ive started to realize that, some athletes just NEED it, whether it makes sense or not, they need to have no restrictions, accountability, or guidelines. The mind is so powerful and so different amongst athletes. I am beginning to see that the mental coaching is far different than the physical and that each mind must be coached uniquely.
