The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work - TopicsExpress

The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. ----Psalm 19: 1-2 NIV The lame man that Apostle Peter healed at the beautiful gate in Acts chapter 3, though a very poor man, worshiped God with songs and dance, and followed Him. Why? He had had an encounter with the giver and taker of life; he had known the messiah; he had seen what God can do. Zaccheaus, the tax collector, though a very wealthy man, decided to follow and worship God, and depart from iniquity. Why? He had had an encounter with the one who owns all the silver and gold in the world; he had felt and enjoyed his compassion and mercy; he knew what it was to be truly forgiven. When the Jewish leader held the man that Jesus healed of blindness in John chapter 9 for questioning, and hoping he would eventually deny Jesus, the healed man disappointed them. The man had seen the light, the power of darkness no longer held any threat for him. He told them he would rather be with the one who saved him than succumb to their pressure, intimidation and manipulations. He also seemed to be telling them: can’t you see what the Lord has done? I was blind, now I can see. What boldness! What conviction! Our God is always working; he never sleeps nor slumbers; can you see what the Lord is doing in your life right now. Since He works in mysterious ways, it may sometimes be difficult to see what He is doing. That is when you need faith. It must have been difficult for David when he stayed alone with the flock, and he had to fight the lion and the bear in quick succession. That must have been tough and trying. But the victories he recorded during those encounters was all the encouragement he needed when it was time to face Goliath. Can you see what the Lord is doing; if you are struggling to see it, do you trust Him enough to declare like prophet Habakkuk: ‘Though the fig tree does not bud, and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails, and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen, and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Saviour. The Sovereign LORD is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights’-- Habakkuk 3:17-19 That is faith! So child of God, go in the strength which Christ, your Lord, supplies today, and proclaim his name. May the good Lord look down on you with mercy, and make all your dreams come true!
