The historic Blue Store Restaurant on Rt. 9 at County Rt. 31 burned overnight as numerous firefighters from Columbia, Greene and Dutchess counties battled the 2:00 a.m. blaze. In the attached picture the glow from the blaze on the top floor can be seen illuminating the smoke churning from the building as Greenport firefighters in the foreground are shown swapping out depleted air tanks while next to M25. By daybreak the building, which dates back 210 years to 1804, appeared to be a total loss. Our photographer reports other photos from the scene will be posted here at a later time.
