The hysteria over Bendgate/Bendghazi - the head-smackingly obvious - TopicsExpress

The hysteria over Bendgate/Bendghazi - the head-smackingly obvious fact that a large piece of aluminum, even when shaped into a stylish iPhone, will bend given enough pressure and/or heat - reminds me of the ignorance displayed by folks upset over the Facebook Messenger app: A lot of low-information consumers freak out and make rash decisions based on something they read on the internet and took as gospel. Because, you know, the internet is never wrong and wouldnt lie to us. Folks, before the internet was a thing, magazine publishers knew that if they put certain people/brands on their cover, theyd sell more magazines. Apple has always been one of those brands (even pre-iPhone). Now, Apple is even bigger and theyve become the go-to tech story clickbait brand. Need more readers? Say something outlandish about Apple. Who cares if its true - itll draw readers and, more importantly, spawn comment wars that drive repeat visits and even more eyeballs clicking to see whats gotten everyone so worked up.
