[The icecaps are not melting, the deserts are not expanding, - TopicsExpress

[The icecaps are not melting, the deserts are not expanding, California is not running out of water, etc, etc. Climate Change does not insist that the planet is warming in a uniform way. It warns that there will be erratic weather as the climate gathers force beyond our control. It seems to me assassinating spokespersons re: the sky is falling actually clouds the facts of the science to which we should be paying closer attention.] T&T OCT 3 Alarmists profit from public fear To The Editor: A reader recently referred to a new book by Naomi Klein entitled, This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs. the Climate, suggesting catastrophic consequences if the world temperature increases beyond two degrees Celsius, which she expects to happen by 2017 if fossil fuels are not banned (We must reduce fossil fuel use, Sept. 27). I find it interesting that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), which has a uniform and pristine situation data acquisition network of 114 sites across the United States, reveals the data shows the temperatures in the United States are not rising at all, at least not in the last 10 years. In fact, in the last 10 years the United States has cooled by approximately 0.4 degrees Celsius, which is more than half the claimed global warming of ALL the twentieth century. Because the network, known as the U.S. Climate Reference Network (USCRN), is so uniformly and pristinely located, the temperature data requires no adjustments to provide an accurate nationwide temperature record. USCRN began compiling temperature data in January 2005. Of course 10 years is hardly enough to establish a long term trend, but the USCRN data is entirely consistent with, and lends additional evidentiary support for, the objective reporting of global warming stagnation of the past 17 plus years. Of course, to all global warming alarmists, all real world data is irrelevant. It appears to me the real environmental capitalists are people like Al Gore, Michael Moore, and David Suzuki who have all made millions off fueling this public fear, and now Naomi Klein wants to get part of the action.
