The idea that people choose their lives is not entirely true. Some have an unfair advantage while others have a sad disadvantage, right from the start. Sure, one can struggle and become a workaholic in order to get ahead of the game, but the game is rigged in favor of the wealthy who can afford to put their children through the best schools. People should probably stop claiming life is what we make it, since it is what others make it. Take for example attraction: Women who are attractive get any wealthy sucker who is willing to pay for their love, while attractive men can easily get actresses or wealthy women. And the same goes for athletes. So no, our life success is based entirely on our DNA and upbringing, and very little devotion to actually do well. This is a rather sad truth, and this is why we are doomed for failure.
