The idea that what we experience as our partner is a myth is really disingenuous to the nature of the people involved. Yes, lasting relationships (not just marriage!) depend on how we accept the shit the other has, but it also has to do with what the other brings to the table in terms of gold and value. This is why I loathe the idea of the myth two people create together.
