The incumbent Mayor Larry Waters, has been in office for 35 years. Because of this I believe Waters has lost touch with the common core and values of Sevier County. He has secured his position and really does not have to “dance for his dinner.” Waters has been no ambassador for the people and has done very little to enhance the employment opportunities or create industry and economic development in Sevier County. Nothing has been done to create an environment for communities, and especially Seymour by not establishing community centers, recreational parks, ball fields, tennis courts, soccer fields or community action programs. When we look at the demographics of Sevier County, Gatlinburg City has enhanced the south end of the County with the current Rocky Top Sportsworld, but serves as a commercial interest while catering to the local community. They also have an established community center with a swimming pool tennis courts and ball parks for the local people to enjoy including all Sevier County residents. This is courtesy of The City of Gatlinburg. As we move northward to Pigeon Forge we find the same infrastructure and on into City of Sevierville where we again find the same enhanced infrastructure. Dollywood employs a large percentage of jobs in Sevier County but does so with very little support from the Sevier County Mayors office. Dollywood has an Economic Development program that makes Dollywood grow. Then as we move out into the County, we find there is no community centers, no enhanced recreational services, no employment due to no industry or economic development,and everything as it was 20 years ago. With no active Economic Development vision, things will stay the same for the next 20 years. The Cities of Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Sevierville and Dollywood have created comprehensive development programs that have made the cities grow. This same pro-active approach has to be taken in a more aggressive manner for Sevier County to see growth and development to keep our children in Sevier County. Waters has been a career politician and has rarely been challenged. There is a movement across the country to end career politicians who are ineffective and are rebelling for needed change. Now is the time to change Sevier County and elect a new Mayor. Im ready for the job and ready to change the way Sevier County does business, with a trusting and transparent Mayors Office.
