The infamous vimochana samaram was funded by CIA. Later, Patric Moinehan, US ambassador to India disclosed the details. Fund came through Indira Gandhi, the then Congress president, and distributed through communal organizations, especially christian church. I remember, there were always a groups of goondas in the church fed with drinks and food who used to do all hooliganism. Poor Christians were told communists are going to destroy church and asked to assemble for processions. It was disclosed later by Father Vadakkan, who was the leader of anti communist movement. Congress leaders may be knowing the amount, however, it is estimated to be 12 crores at that time...What was the provocation on this "samaram"? The first communist government proclaimed a few steps in favour of the poorest in the society. Most important was stopping eviction of the landless from their cottages where they dwell...then the land reforms bill, that was the Magna Carta of the poor peasants and farmers. More over, the educational bill by Professor Joseph Mundasserry, that revolutionized education system. The vested interests in Kerala, India and the imperialist forced joined together to topple down the elected government in a fascist way..Even the sections of communal forces later resented on their act...The harm done by this "samaram" to Kerala politics, culture and the society is immense and its bad effects still continues....
