The influence of Islam on European and American thought cannot be - TopicsExpress

The influence of Islam on European and American thought cannot be marginalized to few footnotes and random comments; as it could be easily traced in the key works of the key thinkers, philosophers and theologians; from the reformation to romanticism. Nevertheless, the influence was merely intellectual; limited to the intelligentsia. They have imported and absorbed some of the Muslim methods of thinking, some components of our world view; in order to reform the Christian faith. The reformation which lead to the "secular" act of deterring the faith itself as a result of the debate over the boundaries between the sacred and the profane. We should learn our lesson. How reformation, as a secularization process; could just override the ethnic and local traditions; without deterring the faith itself. Hint that we do not need any elements from their world view; as all we need is to understand the process and the counter-process. We need the reformation process to get out of the bog of religious fetishism, and we need the counter-reformation process to prevent the dying fetishism from turning into atheism/agnosticism. In other words; its a risky redefining process for both: the Sacred and the Profane. Redefining them through our own world view. Writing made it clearer I believe!
