The initial meeting between the City of Pinehurst and the Pinehurst Police Officers Association lasted about 30 minutes on Thursday. Greg Cagle of the Texas Municipal Police Association represented the police officers and held off with a proposal until hearing the city’s financial situation. Pinehurst City Administrator Joe Parkhurst said the city is down almost $25,000 in sales tax revenues from last year and could not consider any kind of a pay increase at this time. The two parties agreed to monitor the city’s financial situation over the next month or so and will meet again on August 5. Parkhurst indicated he hoped the sales tax revenues would increase so the city could give a raise to all of its employees to help them keep up with the cost of living.
