The inspiring message of The Warmth of Other Suns -- and of the African-American search for freedom and justice during the Great Migration and beyond -- is making its way to Parliament in the United Kingdom. Honored to speak in the House of Commons on Wednesday, September 10, 2014, 6 pm, at the invitation of MP Diane Abbott, the first black woman elected to the British Parliament. The event is open to the public. Seats must be reserved through MP Abbotts office via Bell Ribeiro-Addy at [email protected]. The address is the House of Commons, Committee Room 7, Westminster, London, SW 1A 0AA. Today marks the fourth anniversary of the books publication. What a way to celebrate this milestone. Encouraging to know that people around the world feel connected to the drive for social justice by African-Americans in this country as told in this book and as has unfolded in recent times, from Sanford, FL, to New York City to Ferguson, MO. Much of what we see today is the result of history, unaddressed, repeating itself. That is why people need to know the history, to truly confront it and heal from what has gone before us. -- The Warmth of Other Suns
