The internet in our new place cuts out several times a day, and can only be restored by rebooting the modem, which is in our neighbors apartment. He told us, and the landlord repeated, that thats just how the internet is in Guadeloupe, and that I should knock on the wall when it happens so he know to reboot. Having been in Guadeloupe for nearly 6 months, I know that the internet is not in fact that bad here, and I insisted that they call Orange to have the line tested. The landlord wasnt happy about it (hes an incredibly nice guy, but I suspect he thought it would cost a lot to fix it) but I refused to back down, so he finally called. And guess what? There is a problem with the line, and since its outside of the building, theres no charge to fix it. What a relief! The idea of living here with spotty internet and having to bother the neighbor several times a day was totally stressing me out.
