The issue is not only getting the people who want change to vote, but to convince the people who don’t want change that well planned change is for the better. Gathering a group of like minded people allows us to see that there is indeed a common desire for change, albeit for different reasons. The job of then effecting change is to take the conversation to those in your sphere of influence, namely your family, friends, fellow workers and associates and helping them to see that the city needs it. Remember that there are a lot of people in this city that don’t want change, just look at the opposition to the improvements and upgrades to the lakefront and downtown, or festivals, or any number of new ideas, and there will be large group of those opposed to change that will vote. So we need to ensure that the message gets out that change is inevitable, and it can be well planned change to ensure a better future for the city, or it can be the inevitable change of stagnation and decline if nothing positive happens.
