The joke is told about a pilot who made the following announcement to the passengers: It appears that we are lost. However , we are making good time. For me it was no joke. Before taking off I had made preflight preparations for a jaunt from Mobile to Montgomery. But I decided that it would not be necessary to do a preflight plan for the return trip. I reasoned that I would simply fly over the north/south highway which connects the two cities. After being in the air much longer than it had taken for the earlier flight I realized I was lost. The highway I had chosen to fly over was obviously the wrong one. I looked at the fuel gage hoping that there was enough to get me to an airport if I needed to land. After about twenty more minutes as I approached a city I lowered the plane to an altitude that would allow me to read the name on the water tower. Thankfully. I was flying over Pensacola. And from there I was able to follow the coastline back to Mobile. Have you ever been lost? I heard about a little boy who somehow wandered away from where he lived and became lost. A policeman saw him, stopped his patrol car and after a few questions realized the little boy was lost. As they drove around the neighborhood searching for anything that looked familiar the little boy said to the officer: There is a church close to where I live that has big cross on it. If I can see the cross I will be able to find my way home. What was true for that little boy is also true for us. Better yet never wander away from the cross. #woodswitandwisdom
