The just concluded ATA conference attracted delegates from 19 countries 18 of which were African and the other was America. These included government reps, civil society, media and Private sector and I must add, the success of this conference was attributed to the roadshow we had in the US in September and hadnt Ebola played a role the numbers would have been even bigger.....of course this didnt just happen , ATA US office played a major role in making sure the roadshow was successful, the government provided most of the money for the roadshow, Susan Muhwezi being the President of ATA uganda chapter was fantastic is playing her role, she lobbied, she pushed people to work et UTB with all the challenges played their role, the ministry of Tourism, our local media did everything to promote the conference, our local private sector especially AGE safaris that provided free cars to the media etc and Kelly etc, our embassy in Washington etc our biggest gain is going to come from the coverage uganda is going to receive through all the bloggers, writers and the general media guys that came to uganda who actually were shocked by the beauty of uganda. This shouldnt be a one off, I have learnt over time that success is the sum of small efforts repeated daily and if you asked how we have achieved the little success, I would tell you the same......we dont sit back and celebrate forever because we have achieved something......the other thing I observed is that Ugandans have lots of potential but have never learnt to pull in the same direction when theres is need that we must correct and also people love doing things the last minute mainly because they want to take advantage of the confusion, that is not good. If we help uganda grow, we shall eventually grow as well as individuals
