The kids & I are safe & sound in IL, arrived late on Friday. Hurricane Odile destroyed Cabo. Sorry for not checking in earlier. No cell phone service, electric, water or land line. Its been an incredibly emotional ride. Our little casa held up like a champ. We bailed water & stood against door/windows for what seemed like days, but totally safe the entire time. Minimal damage to our gates, bodega & vehicles.....we were among the fortunate ones. The evacuation efforts were amazing! Big thank you to the US Consulate & Embassy employees at the airport & Southwest Airlines - it was an amazing feeling to board the plane....feel air conditioning, have an ICE cold water, sandwiches, chips, cookies = FOOD waiting in each seat. Met at the Phoenix airport by American Red Cross volunteers offering cold drinks, snacks, activities for the kids; flew us into Chicago w/in a couple hours & were met at Midway by my Mom & Ahna Mattingly. I cannot express the gratitude I feel. Many stayed behind, including Casey, to ward off looters & take care of whats left, including furry 4-legged kids. Reports are that some are getting electricity already, but I have a feeling well be one of the last due to our location up on the hill. The hugs I received during those days after the storm never felt so real! Lots of positive energy going out to those still there....may your lives get easier soon. To all of the members of my Cabo family,.....I LOVE U, stay safe & healthy....no matter where you are!!!!
