The king summoned the Gibeonites and spoke to them. (Now the Gibeonites were not a part of Israel but were survivors of the Amorites; the Israelites had sworn to spare them, but Saul in his zeal for Israel and Judah had tried to annihilate them.) David asked the Gibeonites, What shall I do for you? How shall I make atonement so that you will bless the Lord’s inheritance? The Gibeonites answered him, We have no right to demand silver or gold from Saul or his family, nor do we have the right to put anyone in Israel to death. What do you want me to do for you? David asked. They answered the king, As for the man who destroyed us and plotted against us so that we have been decimated and have no place anywhere in Israel, let seven of his male descendants be given to us to be killed and their bodies exposed before the Lord at Gibeah of Saul—the Lord’s chosen one. So the king said, I will give them to you. II Samuel 21:2-6 I.DO.NOT.CARE! IT.REALLY.DOES.NOT.MATTER! JUST.DO.WHATEVER.YOU.THINK.IS RIGHT! Have you ever asked someone a question and felt like their answer was really sarcastic? Do you ever give an answer that is actually the opposite of what you really want to happen? Do people have trouble sharing what they really are thinking? In the first part of the conversation between David and the Gibeonites, you would think they were the most forgiving people in the world! But as we discover in the reality of our lives today, YOU WOULD BE WRONG! They had NOT forgotten what had happened and were out for revenge! Not much has changed among mankind over the centuries! Sadly, people today are not as forgiving as they should be whenever they have been treated badly! What would your life be like today if you truly forgave others as God has been willing to forgive you? What would your daily relationships with family members, friends, and co-workers be like if all of Gods people forgave you and others just as God has been willing to forgive them? DO WE HAVE ANY RIGHT TO BE UNFORGIVING? FORGIVE . . . JUST AS YOU HAVE BEEN FORGIVEN! IT TRULY IS A GOD THING!!!
