The kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it— Mat_13:45-46 NOTE: That the initial search was for many pearls yet finding ONE became the crowning possession of his lifelong search. The tragedy of humankind is seeking too many things. There is no peace for the man whose objects are many and whose aims are diverse. One of the tragedies of paganism is the inevitable distraction of too many gods-yet the triumph of the Christian is his ONE life and ONE purpose because his God is ONE. Now hear the Conclusion of the matter: ONE thing is needful. This ONE thing I do. There is ONE pearl. For that ONE I do search. That ONE pearl is Christ. In Finding Him, I find perfect satisfaction and my search ends. We are complete in Christ.
