The last 1471 days has had its share of ups and downs. Back and forth I have gone from the mountain top back down into the valley. Life is just lived like that for most everyone. I suppose we all wish we could flatline a mountain top wouldnt we? We simply cannot. When you look out of a window from airplane at 30,000 feet you can easily notice life is mostly lived in the valleys. Big cities, small towns, shopping centers, subdivisions, most all people shop, play, and live in the valleys. It is also where the crops are grown. All the fertile soil is in the valley. It naturally washes down to the lowest elevation from all the peaks that surround. While on the mountain top we may feel a closer proximity to God, it is most often in the valley of our lives when we are growing closer to Him. The Kingdom of God is so often the opposite of what is natural in this world. So while we are enduring hardships in the valley we should not feel like God is far away, or we have really made Him angry. We are not necessarily being punished, but perhaps blessed by going through the trials we face. Instead of pouting, we should rather use this time to cultivate a closer relationship to God by increasing our intimacy with Him. We can do this by saturating our minds with spiritual music, read the Bible as if it is our only source of nourishment, and conversationally Praying continuously. Talk with The Lord throughout the pain and focus your mind on Him. When our mind is on our emotions, illnesses, problems, our fears will only increase. When our mind is consumed, I mean really saturated with the prescription I mentioned above, there is NO fear. It is impossible to have two simultaneous thoughts at one time in one mind. It is our choice what is consuming our mind. If all we do is focus on our junk, then all we will get is increasingly more junk. We need to turn our eyes on Jesus. When we do the things of this world will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace. I am looking forward to plowing another day in the garden of Gods amazing grace. Are you? Start by reading James Chapter 1:2-12 HCSB 2 Consider it a great joy, my brothers, whenever you experience various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. 4 But endurance must do its complete work, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing. 5 Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and without criticizing, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith without doubting. For the doubter is like the surging sea, driven and tossed by the wind. 7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 An indecisive man is unstable in all his ways. 9 The brother of humble circumstances should boast in his exaltation, 10 but the one who is rich should boast in his humiliation because he will pass away like a flower of the field. 11 For the sun rises with its scorching heat and dries up the grass; its flower falls off, and its beautiful appearance is destroyed. In the same way, the rich man will wither away while pursuing his activities. 12 A man who endures trials is blessed, because when he passes the test he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him.
