The last council meeting put on hold a change to our general plan - TopicsExpress

The last council meeting put on hold a change to our general plan that would permit new homes to be built on the north side of US 60. These homes are outside of the noise corridor and in my opinion would benefit or city in many ways. Currently our Mayor, other City Council members ad the City Manager disagree on this and they are doing everything possible to stop this request by the developer, They feel this will hinder or prevent the future site of lite rail and a stop for passengers if these homes are built. For the life of me I find this an outlandish thought based on the fact the state has zero monies set aside for this project and if it ever does come to some form of life it will not occur until sometime in the 2030s. But just for grins what if in 15 to 20 years from now this project is resurrected. The project site is west of the new homes this developer wants to build. In my opinion again these homes would add to the transportation needs and possibly add to an argument that this form of transportation is needed. But what this request for new homes does immediately for El Mirage is gain a few more residents, help our revenue stream in many fashions such as Federal, State and local monies, it builds a community on property that is blighted and increases population in our public schools thus helping with funding for our school district. This will come back on the agenda sometime in January of 2015 for council to vote on, I will not be on the City Council for this vote but I will be in the audience voicing my support for this development and I urge you all to join me. Another note on this project request is the developer has taken El Mirage into the legal stream and looking for settlement, action or both on this project. You pay for this too.
