The last day in Marrakech was amazing, started out at the Berber - TopicsExpress

The last day in Marrakech was amazing, started out at the Berber museum and Majorelle Gardens, then to the medina where we visited one of the public ovens (which has been in use continuously for a couple hundred years), we saw how people bring their bread to be baked and how the baker can recognize whose bread is whos, then we went to a beautiful madersa and saw inside the students rooms/cells, and to the Marrakech Museum, which is housed in the beautiful palace that used to belong to the Secretary of Defense. Then we went for the deliciousness that was mocoui (mock-shwee), pit baked lamb that you dip in cumin-salt and eat with bread and mint tea. It was so yummy! Then a visit to the square for some people watching (I saw people with monkeys on leashes, they were the monkeys that are called Barbary Apes, but really they are macaques, and I was sad for them - monkeys are too smart to be happy on leashes, doing tricks) and some souvenir shopping. We had a final dinner at a cute French restaurant but even with hot fudge Sundays for dessert, it wasnt as good as mocoui! Now, just waiting for everyone to wake up and the trek home to begin! Marrakech to Casablanca to JFK to Phoenix, here we go!
