The last several weeks have highlighted the global assault on womens bodies. From the kidnapping of the Nigerian girls, to the death by stoning of a young Pakistani pregnant woman, to the Eliot Rodger targeting of women, to several high-profile incidents in which boyfriends or husbands murdered their partners (e.g. Michael Jayce), to several local incidents of men killing women, we are declaring war on violence against women. We launched the #HonorThyMother campaign with the great Cissy Houston and Eva Longoria to begin to shift our culture around respect and affirmation for women. We will continue that work until we arrive at a place in which women are not only protected, but are afforded the love, honoring, and dignity they so richly deserve. In the meantime, we will raise our voices anytime we see women being disrespected in any way.
