The last three days colleagues from the Embassy of Denmark and programme staff of the Danish development programmes participated in a workshop on Conflict Transformation. The aim of the workshop was to provide participants with analytical tools to work positively around conflict sensitive topics that can arise in their work environment. Working through a Human Rights Based Approach is a part of all Danida programmes. In countries which have been affected by conflict, like Nepal, it is additionally important that conflict analysis is used throughout programme implementation to ensure that programmes constructively engage with the local dynamics. The workshop opened up for discussions on challenges and obstacles that programmes are facing. Some of the challenges discussed were corruption, mistrust, political instability, impunity, growth and poverty. Group exercises and presentations ensured an inclusive learning environment in which participants were able to address and share some of the issues they are facing in their everyday. Programme staff from the three Danish programmes onn Energy, Environment and Peace Building were present at this workshop.
