The late poet William Stafford wrote that a poem is an emergency - TopicsExpress

The late poet William Stafford wrote that a poem is an emergency of the spirit. When mere speech is inadequate to express the heart, man has found other means in verse and song. The largest book in the Bible is Psalms and runs the gamut of emotional expression from intense grief to overwhelming thankfulness. While the music of today is often studio engineered to make a buck, there are those that still use music as a platform to express profound emotion that simple speech cannot. The link Im sharing is for a song that was written by Simon and Garfunkel and has always been a favorite of mine to express my gratitude to Christ, but today Id like to dedicate it to all those over the years that have been that bridge over troubled water. You know who you are. My appreciation for you is overwhelming and your acts of kindness in my life have been very humbling. The list would be too long to name you all, but suffice it to say that your imitation of Christ have left me thankful to a degree I cannot express.
