The latest news is the sack of eight ministers.A cabinet reshuffle in the Nigerian government is long overdue as no sector in the country seems to be working. Why Mr President waited this long before succumbing to public demands and outcry makes me wonder. In a saner society, most of the men and women parading themselves as ministers in the Federal Republic of Nigeria can not be a local government council chairmen. But in a country where the winning party manifesto and philosophy is winner takes all, anything and everything happens. Most of these ministers are products of political patronage and the warped Federal character zoning system where merit is often sacrificed on the alter of inclusion. I have had cause to watch many of them on live television discussions and they clearly cut the figures of people who knows next to nothing about turning an ailing nation around. The education minister is one of them. I will only salute Mr President if his latest move is with bonafide intentions. I hope it is not business as usuall. If he jettyson the usual way of appointment based on opportunism and appoint seasoned and experienced technocrats i will assume it is not business as usual. He should also be courageous enough to fire the real culprits: the cabal in his cabinet who have through numerous fraudulent practices, taken this country aback. If Mr President wants to gain our confidence, the famous four must be fired. The ministers of economy, petroleum, aviation and justice need to go. Every Nigerian knows this. His advisers like Okupe,Abati and Gulak also need to go. If not,the man is simply living in a world of illusion.
