The law shows us sin. Romans 3:19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. 20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law [is] the knowledge of sin. It shows us Gods righteous standard. It condemns us guilty before God. The law of God cannot save us but rather shows us how we have failed morally. We are under the condemnation of the law a part from saving faith in Christ Jesus. To be under the law means the law is hanging above us and we are guilty for our past sins. If we try to do good works a part from saving faith in Jesus Christ, we will be under the law and or guilty of breaking Gods moral law. Our good works cannot save us however, once we are born again we have good works (keep Gods law). We must repent, accept saving faith through Jesus Messiah. By the works of the law (trying to do good things a part from saving faith in Jesus Christ) no flesh shall be justified. Jesus justifies us. Jesus became a sin sacrifice for us who knew no sin. 2 Cor. 5: 21 For he hath made him [to be] sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. Once we repent of our sins, believe in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus, and receive the Holy Spirit, we are no longer under the condemnation of Gods law but rather are empowered by grace (his supernatural favor) through saving faith (belief followed by action to Jesuss life) to keep Gods law through the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit empowers us to obey God. Grace empowers us to walk in the Spirit of God. Conclusion To be under the law is to be condemned by it for failing to keep it. To be free from the condemnation of the law is to be born again and obedient to the life, love and law of Jesus Messiah. We are no longer condemned for our past moral failures, after born again. We are empowered through the Holy Spirit to keep Gods law. When we repent, Jesus forgives us of our sins however, if we are in violation of any part of Gods law, we willingly align ourselves up to obey Jesus in all things or else Gods righteous law will condemn us sinners worthy of hell fire. If we are breaking Gods law, we must repent and obey or else the law will condemn us. Matthew 7: 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Iniquity in short is breaking Gods moral law.
